Ms Gammeltoft is a professor and Head of the PhD Programme in the Department of Anthropology at Copenhagen University. Her teaching focus includes global health, sexual and reproductive health and chronic health conditions, and her research is driven by a general interest in the social and structural forces that shape human health and wellbeing.
Her current research is focused on Vietnam, where she is managing a research/intervention project providing new insights on domestic and informal forms of non-communicable disease care. The project, which is a partnership between the Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Universities of Copenhagen and Southern Denmark, recently received Phase II funding from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She is the author of numerous publications, and is a member of the Editorial Boards of Ethos (the journal of the Society for Psychological Anthroplogy) and Reproductive Health Matters.
Ms Gammeltoft holds a PhD in Anthropology and master’s degree in Cultural Sociology, both from University of Copenhagen.
